Hi Julius,

Sorry for the trouble!

Can you please open Terminal and run the following command?

sudo /Library/Application\ Support/VirtualBox/LaunchDaemons/VirtualBoxStartup.sh restart

Then, relaunch Local.

Hi Clay, i tried, but in the terminal it says an error. Seems to be a bit deeper!

Can you go to  » System Preferences » Security & Privacy and then check for a button in the bottom to allow a system extension from Oracle, Inc.?

I don’t see a thing there:

Sorry! Check the Allgemein/General tab.

You may need to run that command again to make it show up since there’s a 30-minute timeout.

thanks a lot! worked like a charme! didn’t know that part! cheers, julius

Glad to hear!

It’s new to macOS 10.13

I am experiencing the same problem. However, I don’t see any any button to allow Oracle.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi @lien,

Make sure you run this command first in Terminal:

sudo /Library/Application\ Support/VirtualBox/LaunchDaemons/VirtualBoxStartup.sh restart

Then, open up the “Security & Privacy” panel in System Preferences. If the button isn’t there, then it’s most likely already approved.

And if that’s the case, can you provide more details on what problem with Local you’re running into? Does Local get stuck on “Starting Local Machine…”?

I think I just had to restart my computer. It’s working now, thanks!

I have read all the threads about Local and High Sierra, and I’ve tried all the workarounds, trying to get this thing installed and launched – and nothing. It gets stuck at Starting Local Machine. What is it with this thing? All I want is a stable, simple, reliable application where I can create sites locally.

Again, I’ve tried all the Terminal code “fixes” and nothing has worked. Does ANYBODY know how to get Local to work on a Macbook Pro running High Sierra? If so, please advise. Thanks.

@natcreat,

I’m very sorry for the trouble!

Can you please provide your local-by-flywheel.log file? Please see
"How do I retrieve Local’s log file?" for instructions on how to do so.

Without that, it’s hard to know why the machine is failing to start.

Clay,

Thanks for your reply. I completely uninstalled Local and Virtual Box, and even downloaded Local again. The installation stopped again at Host.

I quit Local and deleted networks in VB, then tried launching Local again. It worked. I have no clue why, but Local is up and running, and everything’s operating smoothly.

Walking back slowly, fingers crossed…

Mike

Hi @clay! I’ve tried all of this and read all the other threads but haven’t been able to install Local successfully. What can I do? local-by-flywheel.log (124.3 KB)
