Can't install themes or plugin - install button spins forever

I’m using Win PC version 2.06 on Win7 machine with VirtualBox-5.1.26-117224

Site Setup: WP 4.8
PHP 5.5.38
Web Server: Apache
MySQL: 5.5.55

I open up my site and try to install a new theme (Add New) or plugins (Add New) from the WP directory. I click on the blue install button and it just sits there and spins forever until I click away from the page. Then the install button changes to “Update Failed”

Here is my log listed below. Can anybody see anything wrong?

Thanks!

Here is the error I get at the top of the WP Themes Page:

Installation failed: Local Router Error blockquote { margin: 10% 25%; width: 50%; } body {font-family: arial,sans-serif} img { border:none; } Local Router Error Our apologies for the inconvenience. The Local router is not able to connect to the site you requested. We suggest you try the following: Restart Site - Go to the Local by Flywheel app and restart the site you are attempting to access. Hi @EricWPM,

Sorry for the trouble!

What themes/plugins are you trying to install? Does this happen with every theme or plugin that you try to install?

No trouble at all. Just wanted to test it out. Looks really useful but for some reason it just won’t work on my computer.

I’ve unistalled / reinstalled under many conditions. Tried it in safe mode w/ networking, shut down all my antivirus and protection programs, ran in administrator mode… Nothing seems to work.

I have tried the generic WP theme for 2013 and Akismet for the plugin. None of the plugin or themes will install?

Originally I was trying to load the “GeneratePress” theme and the Elementor plugin.

For any theme install I get this error:
Installation failed: Connection lost or the server is busy. Please try again later.

For any plugin install I get this error:
Installation failed: Local Router Error blockquote { margin: 10% 25%; width: 50%; } body {font-family: arial,sans-serif} img { border:none; } Local Router Error Our apologies for the inconvenience. The Local router is not able to connect to the site you requested. We suggest you try the following: Restart Site - Go to the Local by Flywheel app and restart the site you are attempting to access. I’m not sure what the error is or how I check it? Sounds like something in the program is not connecting to Local by Flywheel?

I will try later today on my laptop and see if I can get it to work on there? That would tell me if it’s my home computer setup or something with the install of Flywheel. Will let you know…

Thanks!

Hi Eric,

It sounds like it’s a networking issue with VirtualBox.

There are a couple of things you can try:

  1. Go to Local then click the menu in the top-left and go to “Restart Local’s Machine”
  2. Download and install the latest version of VirtualBox here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

I too cannot get any plugin to update or wordpress version to install. When i try to add a plugin i get ‘installing’ forever. I have deleted and reinstalled the app. updated local and virtual box to the latest versions but still can’t get any new plugins to install. I’m on Mac os sierra 10.12.2. I’m new to flywheel and any advice appreciated.

btw - when i leave the plugin to complete after a while i get the following error ‘Installation failed: Internal Server Error’

Hmm… I actually never test to install plugin/theme from admin. I think it’s a CURL config error.

Started getting this today, haven’t had an issue before.

Sites are installed on a network drive, Local on Win10.
